Preparation to Hunt in Africa

How to prepare for your African Hunting Safari

You will hunt a variety of terrains on your African hunting safari and shooting distances vary from 60-240 yards.

We use shooting sticks to good effect. Shooting sticks are often new to hunters on their first African hunting trip. Practice shooting off shooting sticks (3 legged tripod type). Practice both standing shots and sitting shots with the shooting sticks.

A good habit when shooting with sticks is to grip the sticks at the top with your left hand (if you’re right handed) and support your rifle with your thumb and index finger of your left hand.

When sitting down with the shooting sticks collapsed, lift your right knee to support your right elbow with your left leg extended under the sticks.

You don’t need to be super fit to have a successful hunt. We will hunt according to your physical capabilities. It is however beneficial to get in a walking routine prior to your hunt. Walk 1-3 miles per day.
