Mike and his son, Karsyn from Wisconsin USA hunted with us on their first African hunt. Victor (PH) guided them on their hunt and they using Rifle Permits they brought their 30-06 and 6.5 Creedmore for their hunt.
Early on the first day we hiked high into the mountains in search of kudu and were successful. Mike got an old 13 year old kudu bull with a instinctive shot after miles of hiking. This bull was old, possibly the oldest we've ever guided and aligns with our ethos of taking old trophies. We were exceptionally pleased with this trophy. The retrieval took the remainder of the day but it was well worth the effort. Congratulations Mike.
Karsyn shot a beautiful impala ram after a long walk and stalk hunt that left us miles from the hunting vehicle. The boys loved the walk and stalk hunting and we saw many different species of plains game while hiking in the valley.
We hunted the reserve a few days later and Karsyn shot a spectacular waterbuck bull with whitening all the way up his horns, another old and exceptional trophy. Continuing on our hunt that afternoon, Mike got a red hartebeest bull high in the mountains with just enough daylight hours left to retrieve him safely. Early the next morning we got onto a herd of blue wildebeest and took another old trophy out of the herd. A storm rolled in that evening and it snowed that night. We woke up to snow covered mountains, a spectacular sight.
Returning to main lodge, Mike hunted a copper springbok ram. They were on high alert but we got into position for Mike to bag one of the most striking springbuck colour variations.
We had a spectacular walk and stalk hunt. Putting in lots of miles and experiencing Africa. The guys loved it and I thoroughly enjoyed guiding them on their first African plains game hunt. Hope to hunt with you guys again and thanks for trusting us with your first African hunt.
