Hunting in South Africa

South Africa is the most hunted country on the African continent and is the most obvious choice for an African Hunting Safari.

World class facilities, ease of travel and the sheer diversity of African plains game animals make hunting in South Africa a terrific choice. Rated as one of the most ecologically diverse countries in the world, South Africa has it all. From hunting kudu in the valleys of the Eastern Cape, vaal rhebuck hunting in the grassy mountain slopes above 7000 feet and cape buffalo hunting in acacia savannah, there is literally a lifetime of hunting memories to be enjoyed in this scenic country.

We hunt primarily in the Eastern Cape, Limpopo, Kwazulu Natal and Free State Provinces. Karoo Wild Lodge in the Karoo, Eastern Cape is our home base and is perfectly located in the heart of our hunting area.

We also operate a satellite camp in the Graaff Reinet area, a 2-hour drive from Karoo Wild Lodge. Expect breath-taking scenery and chance encounters with the big five animals – rhino, elephant and buffalo whilst on your hunt in South Africa. The Eastern Cape has the highest density of kudu in the world and a fair chase kudu hunting experience in the Eastern Cape is often the highlight of our client’s African hunting safari.

Our hunting concession and lodges in Limpopo, Kwazulu Natal and the Orange Free State Provinces allow us access to additional species like spotted hyena, brown hyena, hippo, crocodile, sharpes grysbok, LImpopo bushbuck and kudu along the Limpopo River bordering Botswana. Red duiker, suni and other plains game species are hunted near Hluluwe in Kwazulu Natal. The Orange Free State is home to the rare hartmanns mountain zebra, roan, sable and various plains game species.

All our lodges are accessible from OR Tambo International airport. Karoo Wild Lodge is a short drive from Port Elizabeth Airport. Our Limpopo lodges in Louis Trichardt and Pontdrif are accessed directly from OR Tambo International Airport. Our Hluluwe Lodge is a 2 hour drive from King Shaka Airport in Kwazulu Natal. Our Free State lodge is easily accessible from Bloemfontein airport. Multi-area hunts are possible and allow our clients a variety of African plains game hunting and dangerous game hunting opportunities in a single safari.

South Africa is ideal for the couple and family hunting and vacationing together. The Addo Elephant National Park offers the best elephant viewing in Africa.

Shark cage dive with great white sharks in Mossel Bay, visit historical Graaff Reinet and explore the Winelands of Franschhoek and sights and beaches of Cape Town. Karoo Wild Safaris owns a small guesthouse in Graaff Reinet and an apartment in the beach mecca of Plettenberg Bay, the entry point to the famous Garden Route.

Our South African hunting safaris are personable experiences and wherever your hunt takes you, you will be accompanied by a Karoo Wild Safaris professional hunter and tracker.

Victor plans every detail of your Africa hunting safari personally and this attention to detail is the foundation on which Karoo Wild Safaris is built.

We believe in the adventure of hunting, the thrill of walking and stalking an animal, of discovering something new and unknown.
