The Ostrich are the world’s largest bird and occur in flocks of up to 40 birds. Completely flightless, they are capable of some serious sprinting and are one of the Earth’s fastest land animals. Occurring widely throughout South Africa, they prefer the drier and desert climates.

Male and female birds are similar in size. The female is grey and older males are pitch black. The eggs are incubated by both sexes, the female during daytime, the male at night.
