Bushpigs are notoriously shy animals, sleeping in thick-valleyed mountains during the day and moving to the open plains to graze at night. They're very punctual and habit-like in their routine, often passing the same point at approximately the same time in the evening and returning the same way early the next morning.
The trail cameras have enabled us to identify the size of the various populations. We're also able to determine their routine and to identify excellent quality boars for our clients.
The population represented in the pictures is a family of bushpigs at Pinelands. It consists of a core family of seven sows and piglets and two lone boars that join them occasionally. They move through the same hole under the fence every evening to the open plains below. Just before sunrise they return to the mountains above them.
These series of pictures illustrates the shy and elusive nature of these animals.
