About Brown Hyena

The rarest of all the hyena species, brown hyena are normally associated with clans but the males can live a solitary lifestyle. They cover large distances each night to scavenge and prey on smaller species. Not only scavengers, they are very effective hunters and will take small to medium size animals.

Males and females are very similar in size and weight and it's extremely difficult to distinguish between the two.

Brown Hyena Hunting Tips

Brown hyena are hunted almost exclusively over bait set out well before the intended hunt date. They tend to be wary of new bait but once settled, approach bait more readily and in a more routined manner. You can't shine a spotlight on a brown hyena over bait, hunt them exclusively with night vision or thermal sights.
