Small Spotted Genet Hunting

A highly solitary species of viverrid indigenous to Africa, they were introduced to parts of the Mediterranean and Europe. Widespread throughout Africa.

They are highly solitary and will pair briefly to mate. Their diet consists of small reptiles and birds and will often raid the farmyard for chickens and eggs - they are notorious chicken killers.

They are nocturnal. Genet hunting in South Africa is done at night with a spotlight and genet will come in for a special mouth call.
